Willy

Remus really had taken his week with Willy as both magical and temporary. Especially when they'd parted ways with Willy giving no indication that he wanted to see him again. And Remus, who felt as if he'd been given more than enough and had little to offer in return, hadn't felt right about asking.

That night as he locked himself in the storage unit he felt... despair. He was so used to being miserable that having been happy for a while and following it up with this... it somehow made it worse than usual. And somewhere inside him he could feel the wolf's rage, too. It had liked Willy. A lot.

He blacked out as usual, and the next morning remembered nothing. But he knew that whatever happened, it was so much worse than it had been in a long time.

There was blood smeared everywhere. His blood. And he was covered in scratches, where the wolf had turned on itself with nothing else to take its rage out on. His head felt fuzzy, too, and he realized there was blood in his hair... oh, he must have slammed his head against the wall. That's what that spot on the wall was.

He honestly didn't know what to do. He couldn't go to a hostel like this.

Finally he threw on his coat and tried his best to keep his head down as he limped through the streets of London... back to Willy's doorstep.

And when Willy opened the door, the first words out of his mouth were, "I'm so sorry, I didn't know where else to go..." And then swayed on his feet, looking as if he were about to fall over.

Remus for his part only saw pure goodness in Willy's intentions.

"I enjoy you, too," he said, practically glowing.

[willysilver]

"Then finish your bacon," he said, giving him a pat.

Remus took a bite, and then chewed and swallowed before saying, "I really am feeling much better. After we could groceries, could... go back and..." His cheeks went slightly pink. "I could make whipped cream and you could decide what you want to do with it."

[willysilver]

Willy chuckled warmly.

"Groceries it is, then," he nodded.

Remus found that he finished eating quite quickly after that, while chattering about what foods might be good, what ingredients they should get.

[willysilver]

Willy didn't even eat half of the fruit and cheese and croissant he'd ordered. He had eaten his fill. He asked for abox and when she brought it to him he began to fill it. Remarkably, it packed full with fruit and cheese and a whole croissant that hadn't even been nibbled. But Willy had defintiely eaten half of it.

"Someone on the way to the shop should be hungry for this," he noted.

"I think that's very kind," Remus said, who had depended on that kind of kindness in the past himself.

[willysilver]

"I have found in the world it is so odd that people go hungry. There is so much food all over," he said. "There is no such thing as poverty in my home. Caste, but not poverty."

[mooningremus]

"I grew up poor, too," Remus admitted as they headed out of the cafe and towards the grocery store. "Sometimes we wouldn't have enough food. Maybe that's why I learned to cook, I'm particularly good with, you know, cans of beans of various types."

[willysilver]

"My bluebird used to make beans for me. And cornbread," he said, the memory coming back to him all at once. "On a blue tin plate. And greens. I never gave any thought as to why."

[mooningremus]

"Bluebird?" said Remus as they approached the grocery store, and he was already thinking how nice fresh greens would be.

[willysilver]

"She was..."

Beautiful. Terrifying. Passion and death and bliss.

"...A long time ago."

[mooningremus]

"Oh, I see," said Remus. "A person, not a bird." And impulsively he leaned in and kissed Willy's cheek.

[willysilver]

"Only some fae can get animals to do things for them," he laughed, the put his arm around Remus's shoulders.

[mooningremus]

Remus realized that he had never done this before. Walked down the street with another man in a way that made it obvious they were... together. He'd never had a boyfriend. Never had a girlfriend, which he thought vaguely he'd be into as well, but had never had the chance to explore it.

"I'm practically an animal," he joked.

[willysilver]

"You make a fair point," the prince replied. The phouka were excellent servants and they were all basically just the queen's hounds.

[mooningremus]

"Well I can probably be trained," Remus said lightly, and led them into the grocery store.

[willysilver]

"Why would anyone want to train something so free and beautiful?" he asked. "It would be like riding a unicorn."

[mooningremus]

Remus laughed. "That's a ah, very flattering comparison, I suppose. But in any case... I'd just do what you ask of me because I want to."

[willysilver]

"It should stay that way," he said. He grabbed a trolley and pushed it, stepping onto the rail between the wheels and riding it through the shop.

[mooningremus]

Remus followed him around the store, grabbing ingredients and occasionally asking Willy's opinion on things. And when they were done he gushed, "I'm so excited about cooking now!"

[willysilver]

If a bit of food and a warm bed was all it took to bring Remus such joy, so be it. Willy smiled and paid at the register with money. It was really remarkable how he always had money for food or homeless or...where ever money might be necessary. And yet he lived as he did, with just the barest of a roof and a bed. And his clothes were nothing special. They looked well worn. His shoes certainly were.

"Then let's get it home. Did you get enough meats?" he asked.

[mooningremus]

"I did," Remus said. "But I also know lots of things I can cook for you without meet. First, though... cake and whipped cream." He was practically bouncing.

[willysilver]

"Excellent," he smiled. On the walk home, Willy serenaded him softly. It was a bouncy tune he quite enjoyed.

Remus didn't speak french and didn't know the words, but he started humming along with him. Remus actually had a nice voice, or at least, he could carry a tune.
